Abstract:
Innovation is key in the viability of an organization. Nowadays, still 70% of innovations fail. This indicates this topic is worth to be researched. Therefore a diagnostic research in the form of a single in-depth qualitative case study on organizational structure (based on L-STSD) and assignment of innovation activities (based on MIOS) of an 'engineering to order' organization was executed. This is an organization that deals with highly turbulent order flows and therefore a different (innovative) activity is needed per order. This means an adequate structure and innovation in particular are key for these types of organizations. Hereby, making them a suitable unit of analysis for the desired need of further scientific empirical research on innovation and organizational structure.
