The longest "undefended" border in the world

Abstract

With my master thesis I tried to research whether or not it is possible to create a Schengen agreement between the US and Canada. The border is often referred to as the longest undefended border in the world but is this still the case? Why not create an open border between the US and Canada like we know in Europe, since both countries seem to get along well and are equally developed. The border is changing ever since the events of 9/11, instead of an open border, the border is closing more and more with all its consequences for people living in these border lands. Now that Donald Trump has become the new US president, an open border between the US and Canada is far from near.
