This thesis seeks to assess the perceptions of Brazil’s nationals regarding the political, economic and social situation of the country, by reflecting on Brazil’s economic, social and cultural background of historical events of its formation as a nation. The three main aspects of this research are Brazil’s historical background, theoretical assessment and the Brazilians perceptions of their own country. Each aspect grants a new perspective on Brazil’s development as a nation and its place in the international arena. The research focus on Brazilians perspectives of Brazil, such as the place of the country in the international arena, complemented by the history of the country and Latin American theories in order to present how Brazil’s behaves and is understood in the international set. Understanding how stereotyped Brazil is by its own people and by international policymakers represents how both the developed world and Brazil’s society’s acknowledges the country internationally.en_US
