Abstract
The study addresses the research question: How do the framing (gain versus loss-framed) and the presence of weight-normative messages (present versus absent ) in ‘What I eat in a day’ videos influence individuals' attitudes and intentions towards a healthy diet? Employing a 2x2 between-subject design, participants were randomly assigned to one of four conditions: gain-frame and weight-normative, loss-frame and weight-normative, gain-framed and no weight-normative message, and loss-framed and no weight-normative messages. Despite prior research, this study found no significant effects of message framing or weight-normative messages on viewers' attitudes or intentions towards following a healthy diet. This study highlights the need to further explore the effects of framed and weight-normative messages in health-related online communication to better understand their impact on individuals' attitudes, intentions, and overall well-being.
