Abstract

The posterior parietal cortex (PPC) is a highly connected brain region in the neocortex. Although it is critically involved in memory, navigation, and generation of an egocentric frame of reference, its cellular organization is yet to be studied in detail. Here, by employing a newly developed high-throughput staining method called goDISCO, we systematically study the morphological qualities of the PPC dendritic projections. We determined quantitative measures of pyramidal dendritic tree morphology under two ammonium concentrations and saw a significant decrease in staining quality for the lower ammonium concentration. Thus, a reduction in ammonium concentrations is not a viable means of reducing background noise in the goDISCO protocol.
