This case study was conducted at BTE Group, which is a Dutch company that operates in the concrete industry. The research question of this study was formulated as followed: How are the formal and informal systems that are part of BTE Group’s ethical infrastructure influenced by centralization? In this single case study ten interviews within one management layer were conducted, two observations were held, and a document analysis was performed in order to attain empirical data. This data was analysed by means of a template analysis which resulted in the conclusion that centralization did seem to affect the formal systems at BTE Group as it determines ‘who’ gets to formulate and execute formal systems in the organization. Furthermore, these formal systems in turn showed to affect the informal systems in different manners.
