The Influence of Individual Values on Organizational Citizenship Behavior: a Cross-National study

This study confirms the positive effects that job satisfaction and organizational commitment have on organizational citizenship behavior. In addition, it explored the possibility of individual values having moderation effects on the relationships of job satisfaction and organizational commitment with organizational citizenship behavior. It was shown that these moderation effects are not significant, but by dividing individual values into social and personal values, it was found that social values may be a new predictor variable of organizational citizenship behavior, which is a highly socially oriented concept.The required data was collected through quantitative methods; a survey measured the relevant concepts and their indicators. This research was facilitated by a case study at a multinational organization in the IT industry. Turnover is very high in this industry; organizations should therefore look for ways in which they can combat this phenomenon. Increasing organizational citizenship behavior is one way to do so, and this study contributes to the knowledge base on this type of prosocial work behavior.
