Abstract
In this study the Yucel method, a new measure of psychological well-being, was researched in order to test the construct validity. The method claims to distinguish itself by not relaying on language as much as contemporary measures. The aim of the method is to improve the healthcare of clients with language barriers in treatment and diagnostics. This study was done by comparing the scores of 85 university students on theoretically associated psychological constructs in a multiple regression analysis with the scores of the individual Yucel layer. It was found that self-esteem, selfefficacy, resilience, well-being, symptomatic stress and distress in a social role are related to the score of the individual Yucel layer. Distress from interpersonal relationships is found to be unrelated to the individual Yucel layer. Considering these findings, it can be concluded that the construct of self-esteem that the individual layer of the Yucel method measures is validated by other associated constructs.
