Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the way contemporary television frames Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This will be done by analyzing three television shows from the past ten years that focused on main characters with ASD: The Good Doctor, Atypical, and As We See It. This thesis will analyze how their disorder is framed during general social interaction, in the workplace, and during the development of romantic relationships. The goal is to explain how autism is framed and represented on television. Subsequently, it will also aim to point out, where applicable, which parts of the disorder are underrepresented, providing further thought as to how to characterize these facets in the future.
