Abstract
Participants were scanned with an fMRI while perceiving lettercolor
combinations. These participants implicitly learned letter-color
associations by reading books with colored letters. Afterward, they
were scanned again under the same conditions as before. This study
tries to determine if a Multi-Layer Perceptron can predict whether a
person is looking at a colored or black letter before and after association
learning. Suppose color qualia, the conscious experiences of color, are
processed in the same brain regions as when visually perceiving colors.
In that case, the model is expected to become less accurate when applied
to post-training data. It will look at if association learning causes
this model to predict black events more often as color events. This is
not the case, meaning there is no indication that color qualia might be
processed in the same regions in the occipital lobe as visual color processing.
It cannot be said if there is any significant positive correlation
between the Projector-Associator scores of the subjects (which gives
an indication of how strong their associated color has become) and how
often their black events are predicted as color events post-training.
