Abstract
The notion of COVID-19 as a career shock and how it impacts sustainable careers has only been recently examined. This study investigates the relationship between COVID-19 as a perceived career shock and the sustainable careers of young professionals. The hypotheses generated are based on the indicators of sustainable careers namely, health, happiness, and productivity. Additionally, it was tested whether there is a positive effect of career competencies in maintaining sustainable careers during the pandemic. An online survey was distributed, and subjects were 102 respondents from various sectors, with less than six years of work experience and within the age bracket of 19-30 years old. The findings discussed a significant relationship between COVID-19 as a perceived career shock and each of the indicators of sustainable careers namely, health, happiness, and productivity, although career competencies did not portray a significant relationship in managing the career shock.
