Abstract
The goal of this study was to diagnose the innovation- and organizational structure of IXON and propose potential improvements to IXON’s structure. In order to achieve this the following research question was proposed: How can the current innovation- and organizational structure of IXON be identified and potential improvements to its structure be made? From literature it became clear that the innovation- and organizational structure of SaaS organizations can be identified by using the design parameters of De Sitter (1998) and the MIOS of Lekkerkerk (2012). This study only focused on analysing and diagnosing the organizational structure of IXON on the macro-level of aggregation. A document analysis of internal IXON documents and interviews were conducted with employees of IXON in order to diagnose and perform a gap analyse between the current situation (Ist) and the desired structure of IXON (Soll). The gap analysis was used to make recommendations towards IXON, how their innovation- and organizational structure could be improved. The results showed that within IXON, five of the seven design parameters of de Sitter don’t have the preferred low value. Four functions of the MIOS are functioning insufficiently. Recommendations are finally made to improve IXON’s structure and reduce problematic behaviour.
