Abstract
The climate is changing and this has multiple negative consequences for society. Therefore, action is necessary in which it is argued that the regional government has an important role. This level of government is the overarching level for the local level and as such supports this level. Moreover, the regional level connects the national towards the local level. The regional government can make use of adaptive visions as a form of climate action. In this study, the contribution of adaptive visions of regional governments in the transition towards a climate-proof future is investigated. Within it, a case study is conducted in which the province of Noord-Brabant of The Netherlands and their adaptive vision, ‘The Guide: Towards Climate Robust Stream Landscapes’, is the focus. Through this study, it becomes clear in what ways this specific vision contributes towards the goal of the province of Noord-Brabant to become climate-proof by 2050. In all, it becomes clear that in order to contribute to such climate-proof objectives, an adaptive vision should inspire the right stakeholder to work on the objective and therefore, the adaptive vision should have a practical character in a way that stakeholders know what to do.
