Abstract
The sustainability advocates have commonly believed in a simple green manufacturing thus far. Yet, such perspective is changing in time. This view, as a challenging conception has been debated. The sustainability with a luxury surrounding as an accommodation has been investigated. The objective of this study was to analyze the compatibility of sustainability and luxury. The main question to be answered in this study is whether luxury service provision is compatible with sustainability of the hospitality industry. To achieve an answer, a 5-star hotel in Amsterdam was selected as a single case study. In order to collect data both qualitative methods and quantitative methods were used. The data was collected by doing interviews with the hotels managers, and with an outsider green license coordinator, in addition, a survey was conducted among the hotel employees. The results were then coded and been made into networks to see their similarities and differences, and frequencies, then, their correlations were reviewed. The findings revealed that not only was it comprehensively feasible for the two concepts to operate well-adjusted in one single place, but also, they would complete one another in some programs. In other words, modernization and usage of high-quality facilities would be advantageous to such hospitality sectors that support and offer sustainability.
