Abstract
Motivate to improve alliance performance? A qualitative study on the effects of motivating management activities on alliance performance No extensive research has been done on the relation between motivating management activities and alliance performance. This study aims to extend the current knowledge on this topic and decrease the existing knowledge gap. Therefore in this study the effects of different motivating management activities on the alliance performance are measured. In this qualitative study a total of 10 respondents have been interviewed in the form of eight managers of five underlying organizations and two managers of an overarching holding in the demolition and recycling industry. This study found that there exists a positive effect of motivating management activities on the operational alliance performance. Furthermore, no effect of motivating management activities on the financial alliance performance has been found during this study. Additionally, there has been found that especially communication and the use of social control are important in realizing better alliance performance.
