Increasing scientific evidence shows that human activities are affecting the earth system functioning to a degree that threatens its resilience and its ability to persist in the Holocene state while facing increasing human pressures and shocks. In this light, environmental and social scientists more and more develop frameworks aimed at the relation between the environment and society. Also among businesses, the impact of their activities on the environment is increasingly under investigation, searching for a balance between social, environmental and economic value creation; corporate sustainability. Like many other businesses, Synerlogic is struggling with the integration of sustainability into its organization. This research focuses on corporate sustainability in relation to organizational change by looking at the potential effect of the sustainability reporting tool (GRI) and an active change agent on the organization’s sustainable development. Organizational change is divided into internal and external organizational change. the internal organizational change relates to the individual behavior of Synerlogic employees. The external organizational change relates to collaborations within the supply chain, specifically the collaboration between Synerlogic and FrieslandCampina regarding sustainability. This research is typical action research in which the researcher represents the role of the change agent that is actively involved during the process. Hereby, the two-sided goal to on the one hand address corporate sustainability in the context of Synerlogic’s internal and external organizational change and on the other hand to contribute to organizational change towards corporate sustainability within Synerlogic. From this research can be concluded that both the change agent and the GRI had their own specific role in the process, complementary to each other in different aspects.en_US
