This thesis consists of an analysis of commuting cycling in the area ‘s-Hertogenbosch – Rosmalen. This thesis is the result of a cooperation between the Radboud University and the Province of North-Brabant where I did a research internship. The thesis uses social practice theory to find the different elements of commuting cycling including the experiences of commuters with the fast cycle route F59. Semi-structured interviews with commuters are the data source to find these elements. Besides this, the researcher conducted interviews with policymakers working on the promotion of cycling. This is because the thesis focusses on the promotion of cycling too to find improvements to adjust the promotion of cycling in such a way that it fulfils the needs of the commuters. The thesis shows some interesting results regarding the view on what social practice theory can offer to an interesting subject as the promotion of cycling. It gives a discussion on the use of social practice theory and it gives possible improvements to the promotion of cycling regarding shared cars, flexible working hours and the fast cycle route.en_US
