Abstract

For an effective recruitment strategy, knowledge about the target group is needed. This research explores differences in response rates of sourced candidates and the influence of response rates on recruiters’ job satisfaction. 29 employees (21 female, 6 male, 2 other) of a recruitment agency participated and recruit either blue- or white-collar workers for permanent placement (hired with a permanent contract) or employee leasing (hired by employer organizations, temporary work for other companies) positions. No significant effects could be found to support the hypotheses. Due to a small sample size this research is underpowered. Nonetheless, an indication was found for blue-collar workers to respond more likely than white-collar workers, when contacted on social media. The same seems to be true for employees contacted for a position in employee leasing, compared to permanent placement. Although response rates show no relationship with work-related job satisfaction, job-satisfaction seems to be high among all participants. Key words: recruitment, sourcing, job satisfaction, target group, response rates
