Abstract

This research is a historical discourse on the ethics of the use of medical data from Nazi-experiments. In this research a context will be created by discussing the Nuremberg Trials. Next, the use of Nazi data until the eighties will be discussed, in combination with the late commencement of the discussion on the use (or non-use) of Nazi data. This will introduce the topic of discontinuity in the view on the ethics of using these data. Lastly the ensued debate will be demonstrated by the examination of several important scientists and their articles, the debate will be divided in those in favor of using Nazi data, and those opposed to using it. This topic will be researched through an analysis of several literary sources which will illustrate the development of the perspective of the use of Nazi experiments from World War Two until 2004.
