| dc.description.abstract | How can context influence utterances? It has been established that added context influences what kind of utterances are used in speech. The amount of shared context can, for example, result in the use of shorter words. This paper explores how context can influence word length in communication. How can a less informative word still be useful? In this thesis I created a model to explain context’s influence on utterances. Specifically how the context of an agent’s attitude can influence utterances so that less informative words can also be used effectively. A simplified scenario is created as a proof of concept to run the model on. According to the proof of concept, the model behaves as expected. From the proof of concept, it can also be concluded that the model shows how context influences speech for the use of shorter words. Further research is needed to learn if the model can be implemented for more use cases. | |
