Roof are spatious, but these require investment and strong construction. Problems with green roofs are also originating from property. Tradable Roof Rights could offer property owners the opportunity to rent out their roof to those who can invest in urban greenery. The goal is to adopt more intensive greenroofs in urban environments. In this case, the city centre of Nijmegen. This research therefore explores the question: can Tradable Roof Rights fulfil the potential of intensive greenroofs in Nijmegen's city centre? This qualitative research consisted of interviews with three parties: the municipality of Nijmegen, RooftopRevolution and Erwin van der Krabben from Radboud University. Interviews with Kadaster and real estate parties were planned, but were not able to be contacted. Results show that the experience for Tradable Roof Rights is doubtful. People see more problems than benefits. This mainly relates to the lack of revenue model, hazards, lack of benefits. The city centre of Nijmegen also lacks roof landscape for intensive greenroofs. A possible set-up for Tradable Roof Rights is found. However, a businesscase for this and greenroofs are hard to define.
