Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic creates a unique context in which employees involuntary work from home. Organizations are forced to change tactics to adapt to the new context, in which they must rely on the individual creativity of employees. The quality of the home environment could enhance the individual creativity of employees, however, this is not the case for every personality trait. Based on prior literature, employees that have a high level of the personality trait neuroticism are more creative when engaged with negative emotions. In contrary, the quality of the environment creates a positive mood, that increases the individual creativity of low-level neuroticism employees. The aim of this study is (1) to determine whether the environmental quality positively influences the individual creativity of an employee working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic; (2) to determine whether neuroticism has a positive effect on individual creativity of an employee working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic; (3) to determine whether the (higher) lower environmental quality, the more a (low) high level of neuroticism enhances the individual creativity of an employee working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the data of quantitative research at a singular organization, none of the stated hypotheses are supported. Overall, even without confirmed significant relationships, this research offers a novel view of both the environmental quality and neuroticism on individual creativity.
