Abstract

In this Master Thesis, a measuring instrument of socially responsible human resource management is translated from English to Dutch and validated in a Dutch context. This translation was done through a multi-strategy approach of translation-back-translation with two bilingual researchers involved. Next to this, the Dutch translation of the questionnaire was sent out to 271 HR managers and employees. An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted to test which items and factors of SR-HRM are relevant in Dutch human resource management and to reduce the amount of items without losing the relevance of the questionnaire. Third, 11 multiple regression analyses (MRAs) were conducted to test the relationship between the identified SR-HRM factors and (1) organizational performance indicators and (2) organizational commitment. The results show a translated and validated version of the English questionnaire and significant relationships between SR-HRM and performance as well as organizational commitment.
