Abstract
This study explores quiet quitting, characterized by lack of motivation, lack of initiative and detachment, among 230 Dutch workers. It examines the impact of bureaucratic structures—centralization, formalization, and specialization—on quiet quitting through the motivating potential score (MPS). Findings show that centralization negatively impacts MPS, specialization has a positive effect, while formalization shows no significant influence on MPS. Contrary to expectations, MPS has no direct significant effect on quiet quitting. Unexpectedly, MPS does not mediate the relationship between bureaucracy and quiet quitting.
