Abstract

The Netherlands seeks to attract and retain international highly skilled migrants because of their crucial role in economy and innovation, with the Brainport region as an illustrative example because of its concentration of tech companies. However, the influx of international highly skilled migrants brings challenges, including housing problems, exacerbated by the national housing crisis. This puts additional pressure on the regional community and leads to concerns about segregation and the formation of ‘expat bubbles,’ which can damage social cohesion in the long run. The research focuses on the current housing situation in the Brainport region and identifies the stakeholders involved. The goal is to develop an inclusive housing strategy that takes into account the interests of all stakeholders in response to the complex challenges posed by the influx of international highly skilled migrants. It also promote better integration of international highly skilled migrants into society. Key words: International highly skilled migrants, collaborative housing, integration, housing policy, multi-stakeholder governance
