Abstract

Native or non-industrial seeds are not merely a practical component of peasants’ work. Rather seeds are a non-human matter which connects peasants to culture and territory. Since being deeply rooted in peasants’ work with their natural environment and their social interactions, seeds have an agency beyond their functionality to produce food and make money.
