dc.description.abstract | The movement of female empowerment of the 1960s was not the beginning of feminism, but it could be construed as the confirmation of an old tradition of thought that was centred on the inequality of women. The second wave of feminism is a movement that was literary from the start. It realised the importance of female representation in literary works. This thesis is focused on the analysis of the representation of female characters in adaptations of Alice in Wonderland. The study makes use of several sources of information and studies that were conducted based on Disney adaptations and feminism. The hypothesis for the thesis is that the Disney characters will adapt to the feminist waves that were present in society at the times of productions. This means that the traditionally accepted traits of women such as demureness and passiveness will become less and less prominent throughout the ages, and the women will show more independence and assertiveness. | en_US |
