Abstract

This thesis is focussed on the Spoorzone, an area in the city centre of Tilburg. This area was reallocated after it was purchased from the NS, creating a large opportunity for redevelopment in the city centre of Tilburg. Ten years after the purchase the Spoorzone can be seen as a largely developed area in which several modern themes like attractiveness and design. The effects which these themes have on the city centre are analysed and listed in the research, showing which effects have the biggest impact on the feeling of attractiveness by the redevelopment. In the research different effects are listed and grounded in theory written by names like Gehl and Jacobs. The ideology by these thinkers is integrated into the project by using the basics of the theories in the interview guides used to analyse the effects of the redevelopment. This casestudy on Tilburg involves interviews with several experts on the topics in the region and stakeholders present in the Spoorzone as well as inhabitants of Tilburg. The research is aimed to see whether the effects of the redevelopment have positively impacted the feeling of attractiveness in the city centre of Tilburg.
