Abstract

Organizations are opting for big data analytics (BDA) as a support system to attain plausible insights and improve strategic decision-making. Therefore, competitive businesses are inclined to opt for BDA consultant organizations’ aid. BDA consultants have encountered a substantial challenges towards the integration of BDA in recipient organizations. According to BDA consultants, technical aspects represent a fraction of the challenges faced, the recipient stakeholders' behavioral reactions pose significant threats to jeopardizing the BDA consultancy processes. With the behavioral focus in mind, this research focuses on the perception of BDA consultants of the attitudinal reactions of recipient organizations and how these reactions influence the approaches of BDA consultants to manage their interactions with recipient stakeholders. Despite the diverse coping mechanisms found, this research poses two coping mechanisms as its main contributions. Firstly, service approaches facilitate the familiarization of BDA consultants with the client organizations, which is needed to formulate a BDA solution. Finally, this research highlights the importance of balancing formal and informal communication with the recipient clients. Informal communication primarily supports BDA consultants in attaining transparent information from the recipient clients.
