| dc.description.abstract | Research question/issue: The increasing need for good chief digital officers (CDOs) to implement vital digital transformations, combined with the inability to retain these CDOs (Wavestone, 2024), leaves organizations with a strategic imperative to solve the problem. Due to the lack of studies on the short and vague tenure of CDOs, this study sought to answer the question, “What are the antecedents of short CDO tenure?” Design: I did this by examining the antecedents of short CDO tenure based on person-job (P-J) fit and person-organization (P-O) fit theory (Kristof-Brown, 1996). The P-J fit and P-O fit rationale were used to look for possible misfits and to suggest effects that may cause short CDO tenure. I took a quantitative approach by carrying out an OLS regression analysis. Information on CDOs and the focal organizations were derived from the BoardEx North American and Datastream database. | |
