Abstract
This study examined if Job Crafting as proactive behavior from employees is related to the level of work engagement. Furthermore, it was assessed whether this relation is moderated by the level of social support employees experience. Social support is analyzed as a moderator that can strengthen the relationship between Job Crafting and work engagement. The results that derived from a sample of 177 employees supported the direct relation between Job Crafting and work engagement. Besides this the results supported the direct relation between social support and work engagement. Furthermore, the result showed a significant interaction effect from the moderator social support on the relation between Job Crafting and work engagement. After further analyzing this interaction effect it was found that the moderator social support dampens the positive relation between Job Crafting and work engagement. This study showed that if the level of social support is high, the link between JC and work engagement is still positive. But when the level of social support is low, the link between JC and work engagement is more positive.
