| dc.description.abstract | This research examines the agreement on the loss and damage fund during COP27 and assesses its implications for climate justice, with a focus on developing countries. By analyzing the flow of negotiations, the positions of the parties involved, and the relationship between justice, historical emissions, and negotiation outcomes, the study sheds light on the extent to which the agreement represents a win for climate justice. The findings reveal the significant role played by developing countries, particularly through alliances like the G77 & China, AOSIS, and the LDCs, in pushing for the establishment of the loss and damage fund. The shifting positions of influential parties, including the European Union, contributed to the breakthrough at COP27. While the agreement is a crucial step towards climate justice, the research underscores that operationalization of the fund is necessary to fully assess its impact. The study highlights the ongoing challenges in achieving climate justice and emphasizes the need for continuous efforts in international climate negotiations. The findings contribute to the understanding of the dynamics of climate justice and offer insights into the future of climate financing and the fight against climate change impacts. | |
