Abstract

This study examined the relationship between multicultural competence, communication competence, and job performance in an international work context. Data was collected via an online survey and in total 110 respondents filled out the survey. Multicultural Competence was measured using the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire (MPQ), Communication Competence via the Communicator Competence Scale (CCS), and Job Performance through the Job Performance Scale (JPS), which distinguishes between Task and Contextual Performance. Results revealed a significant positive relationship between multicultural competence and communication competence, particularly in the dimensions of Cultural Empathy, Social Initiative, and Openmindedness. Furthermore, Communication Competence emerged as a significant predictor of both Task and Contextual Performance, while only the dimension Emotional Stability significantly predicted Contextual Performance.
