This thesis tried to answer the following research question: How do actors with different goal frames and commitment perceive their network effectiveness of a regional network committed to the energy transition?’’ The specific region in this research is the RES Foodvalley. A single qualitative research method, with interviews and document analysis, has been chosen to investigate the research question. The motivations have be viewed through the lens of the goal framing theory and commitment through the three component model. The results showed that the normative goal frame is the most important goal frame because people have as dominant motivation to make a sustainable impact, contribute to the society, or because of role responsibility. The hedonic goal frame can be a driver of the normative goal frame because actors derive pleasure from operating in the normative goal frame. Furthermore, most actors feel an affective commitment to the RES or to other actors in the network, because of the feeling of emotional ties, shared experiences, and the same interests. Some actors also have a feeling of moral responsibility to stay committed to RES Foodvalley. This feeling can be to the RES Foodvalley, which is normative commitment, or to the interests of their own organization or constituencies. Continuance commitment is not seen as a reason to stay committed to the RES. Furthermore, this showed that there are differences between how actors perceive goal achievement,en_US
