Abstract

This thesis uses a quantitative approach to measure what influence certain factors have on the restrictive and/or exemptive behavior of the Schengen visa regime towards certain third country nationals in 2018. This is done by collecting quantitative data of countries on wealth, religion, and refugees on a global scale and using linear regressions to check if any variance in the data of visa-issuing practices could be explained by these factors. Therefore, trying to uncover the current behavior of Schengen member states through its visa-issuing practices.
