Abstract

This study investigated the factors possibly predicting the success of voluntary services on the example of volunteers coordinated by the FSD Münster. The investigated predictors supervisor support, FSD coordinator support, need satisfaction (autonomy, relatedness, competence), distributive justice, and their relationships with job satisfaction and job performance, was tested using a questionnaire. Additionally, a mediating role of job satisfaction on the relationship between the predictors and job performance was tested. The results revealed that supervisor support and need satisfaction significantly predict job satisfaction, while FSD coordinator support didn't. The significance of distributive justice as a predictor remains debatable. Additionally, this study found that supervisor support, as well as competence, significantly predict how volunteers think their supervisors would rate their performance, while only competence turned out to serve as a predictor for the volunteer's perception of their performance. No mediating role of job satisfaction was found.
