Sustainable restructuring of business sites is an important topic for the province of Gelderland (Netherlands), especially when looking at the large vacancy at those sites. For my master thesis, Oost NV asked me to build a sustainability model that judges plans (business cases) for restructuring (parts of) business sites. The model’s verdict will be used to recommend business cases which should ideally receive revolving funds from the province of Gelderland. Inspired by the People, Planet, Profit framework, I conducted a thorough study of literature and interviewed several experts with different fields of expertise. This resulted in the Sustainability Business Area Model, which can judge business cases in 1 day, is easy to use, is transparent and honors several policy criteria of the province of Gelderland. All in all, this model has strengthened and expanded insights about the sustainable restructuring business sites and has given Oost NV a tool to analyze business cases for restructuring (parts of) a business site.en_US
