| dc.description.abstract | Meaningful work is a fundamental human need and is beneficial to the entire organisation individuals belong to, but what cultivates work that is meaningful? The current research aimed to investigate authenticity, autonomy, psychological safety, the learning organisation and team resilience as predictors of meaningful work. In this cross-sectional research, a multiple linear regression analysis was executed. Data was collected with 75 Dutch participants from the educational, healthcare, municipal, welfare and consultancy sectors. Our results showed that work autonomy was significantly and independently associated with meaningful work. Authenticity, psychological safety, the learning organisation and team resilience were not found to be associated with meaningful work. Notably, there was a strong overlap between the learning organisation and team resilience. In sum, the results showed the importance of work autonomy in cultivating meaningful work. Organisations should therefore adhere to their people’s experience of work autonomy. | |
