Tambak Lorok is a residential area located at the edge of Semarang, in Java, Indonesia. Inhabitants of this living area give a glimpse of their lives and what it is like to live beneath sea level. This bachelor thesis clarifies the causes of this living situation, and what influence these causes have on the daily life of the residents of Tambak Lorok. Combined with in dept-interviews with local experts on this matter, own observations, and qualitative in-depth interviews with the residents, this thesis provides a foundation for knowing living conditions that are influenced by climate change in the global south through a Western lens.
