Abstract

This research investigates the relationship between varieties of capitalism and corporate social irresponsibility (CSiR) in large corporations in Western Europe from 2007 to 2020. The study includes data from 16 countries, focusing on the 15 largest corporations by net sales in each country. The dependent variable, CSiR, is standardized and represents the number of irresponsible incidents at the organizational level. Independent variables include the differentiation between Liberal Market Economies (LMEs) and Coordinated Market Economies (CMEs), trade union density (TUD), and stock market capitalization (MC). Control variables are net sales (company size) and industry classification. Data were collected from RepRisk, Eurostat, OECD, and DataStream. Fixed-effects panel data regression analysis was conducted using Stata 17.0, with clustered robust standard errors to correct for heteroscedasticity and autocorrelation. The research aims to understand how external pressures, such as market mechanisms and regulatory environments, influence CSiR in large organizations.
