dc.description.abstract | This study deals with the effect of negative age stereotypes on older workers’ employability mediated by individual HR practices tailored to older workers, and the possible moderating effect of absolute age difference between supervisor and employee on the relationship between negative age stereotypes and individual HR practices. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to test the hypotheses in this study, using data gathered from a respondent sample of 117 pairs (supervisor-employee) from the Dutch labour market. The results revealed support for an increase in three dimensions of employability (i.e. occupational expertise, anticipation and optimisation, and corporate sense) as an effect of investments in flexible working options (i.e. a distinguished factor of the mediator variable). No evidence was found to support either the mediation effect or the moderation effect proposed in the hypotheses. Keywords: negative age stereotypes, individual HR practices (training and development HR practices and flexible working options), older workers, employability (occupational expertise, anticipation and optimisation, personal flexibility, corporate sense, and balance), age dissimilarity | en_US |
