Abstract

In this thesis the effect of work pressure on absenteeism is being investigated at the P.I. Vught. Hereby the Job Demands-Resources model is used to describe work pressure. Absenteeism is being defined based on earlier literature. Other studies have investigated the effect of work pressure on absenteeism, but not at a prison. A hypothesis is formulated and tested by using an independent t-test. However, the test showed no significant result. Therefore the hypothesis is rejected and the conclusion can be made that there PIW’ers and complex security guard disciplines do not have a higher absenteeism rate due to work pressure.
