Abstract

Within the framework of art and culture studies with a specialization in tourism studies, this pre-master thesis focuses on the relationship between (digital) media and tourism. Specifically, at the representation of Marrakesh as a travel destination from the perspective radiated by three different platforms of the Dutch media. By taking a closer look at the specific image and some of the additional text content that these online platforms provide, the Western appeal, the image and the representation (the presence of an Orientalist view) of this destination can be recognised and understanded.
