Abstract
Job crafting has beneficial outcomes for employees and organisations, but job crafting may not be limited to organisational jobs. Entrepreneurs seem to make changes in the environment, but scholars have yet to explore how they make changes in their tasks and resources. This study contributes to the job crafting literature by broadening the understanding of job crafting among entrepreneurs, identifying social support factors, and highlighting the mutual exchange of receiving and giving social support. Twelve semi-structured interviews were held with first- and second-generation Turkish and Moroccan entrepreneurs and were analysed using thematic analysis. The results showed that the entrepreneurs engage in job crafting behaviour by crafting themselves and their businesses with the help of social support. Additionally, the migrant entrepreneurs not only receive but also provide social support to communities and their families, which influences their job crafting behaviour. Limitations of this study relate to the scope of social support and its nuanced impact because individuals experience and value this concept differently. Future research can investigate additional social interactions on the work floor and their effects on job crafting practises among migrant entrepreneurs. Future research could also explore other nationalities besides Turkish and Moroccan. This study reveals suggestions for local governments to organise support programmes that include providing guidance and knowledge sharing about the importance of implementing job crafting practises and utilising social support in this process. This enhances the business development of migrant entrepreneurs.
