Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of Western hegemony on Palestinian heritage in contemporary Palestinian fashion labels. Drawing on the notion of hegemony, this study aims to unveil the dominance of the West in the fashion and heritage discourse, and how Palestinian fashion labels navigate through it. Using two Palestinian fashion labels as case studies, this thesis conducts a semiotic visual analysis of contemporary Palestinian fashion designs. These case studies include two Palestinian fashion labels; Reemami and Nöl Collective. The findings from this research suggest that economic, political, and cultural Western hegemony impacts Palestinian fashion and heritage preservation.
