This research employs a framing perspective to analyze the decision-making process of commodifying a management idea. Debates about the uptake of management ideas state different views about whether the reaction of consultants to a new management idea varies. Furthermore, current literature states that the commodification process is not seen as unproblematic. By investigating this commodification process within a consultancy firm that is commodifying a management idea, more insights are gained into the decision-making process regarding commodification. This research tries to contribute to the literature by providing results that show more nuance in the level of contestation in the commodification process. This gives an insight into how the variation in reactions towards new discourses is potentially developed.
