Abstract
Psychological employee wellbeing (PWB) is an important part of internal marketing as a means of generating value for employees, organizations and society. The Self-Determination Theory (SDT) argues that the psychological needs autonomy, competence and relatedness have a positive effect on PWB in all contexts. PWB is measured by six dimensions: environmental mastery, autonomy, purpose in life, personal growth, self-acceptance and positive relations. The purpose is to investigate the relative effect of autonomy, competence and relatedness on each dimension of PWB under teleworkers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results show that autonomy and competence have a positive effect on the dimension environmental mastery, of which competence has the strongest effect. Autonomy and competence have a positive effect on the dimension autonomy, of which the independent variable autonomy has the strongest effect. Autonomy and relatedness have a positive effect on the dimension positive relations of which relatedness shows the strongest effect. Autonomy, competence and relatedness have a positive effect on the dimension self-acceptance, of which the effect of competence is the strongest. Only relatedness is has a positive effect on purpose in life and personal growth. This research clearly demonstrates which psychological need has the biggest impact on the dimensions of PWB.
