Abstract

In recent years, the concept of workforce agility has gained significant popularity, with the belief that agile individuals are better equipped to navigate through change and uncertainty. While the positive relationship between agility and desirable work outcomes, such as enhanced performance and increased well-being, has often been proposed by qualitative literature, empirical investigations on this link have been limited, especially concerning the research population of leaders. To investigate the relationship between agile working practices and positive work outcomes an online questionnaire has been sent out to leaders of a German insurance company. The findings including 81 participants demonstrate that workforce agility related positively to teamwork, innovative performance, organizational citizenship behavior, and job satisfaction. No association has been found between workforce agility and job exhaustion. Both, theoretical as well as practical implications are discussed. Keywords: agile workforce, leadership, job satisfaction, job exhaustion, job performance
