Climate change is contributed to by mobility, more sustainable transportation is developed in the based on Hydrogen in the form of Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles. These vehicles need infrastructure in the form of hydrogen filling stations, of which only a small number are currently available in the Netherlands. The lack of vehicles and lack of filling stations create a lock-in situation. This master’s thesis focuses on barriers and opportunities in the implementation process of these filling stations as well as the lock-in situation. A Socio Technical Systems approach is used to analyse the hydrogen filling stations and implementation, after which barriers and opportunities are identified. Data is collected with desk research and nine expert interviews. The three most important opportunities that were identified are the need for better and more information sharing, lowering of the hydrogen price and stimulation of the production and sale of vehicles. It is argued that the hydrogen price is strongly connected to the implementation of hydrogen filling stations and the larger context of a hydrogen transition.en_US
