dc.description.abstract | The aim of my research is to determine whether the Brazilian policies and strategies to eradicate child labor and modern slavery are effective. To achieve that, the research assesses the measures and policies used in Brazil to combat child labor and modern slavery. The incentives of actors related to child labor and modern slavery were studied in order to understand their role in this illegal practice, and to assess whether the policies confront their incentives. In order to do that, policies and measures from government, NGOs and companies were analyzed in terms of these incentives. In addition to the analysis, interviews were conducted with actors related to child labor and modern slavery to provide insights and specific information about the current situation in Brazil. After the analysis, some gaps and flaws could be found and consequently, recommendations for the future have been provided. It was also found out that the relationship between public and private sectors is of utmost importance to eradicate child labor and modern slavery. Thus, not only governmental policies are important, but also civil society seems to be important in eradicating child labor and modern slavery | en_US |
